The Australia 2000 Bi-Metal Millenium Gold-Silver Proof-Like Coin - Perth Mint. The Australia 2000 Bi-Metal Millenium Gold-Silver Proof-Like Coin. A proof-like coin featuring a pure gold centerpiece surrounded by a pure silver border, commemorating the new millennium.

Each coin is meticulously struck by The Perth Mint from 0.27oz of 99.99% pure gold and 0.161oz 99.9% pure silver in proof quality. The Perth Mint will release no more than 7,500 of the The Australia 2000 Bi-Metal Millenium Gold-Silver Proof-Like Coin.

The coin's reverse features a golden centrepiece depicting a satellite view of Earth, from 1,000,000kms above the most northerly point of Australia, surrounded by a mirrored silver border with the inscriptions' THIRD MILLENNIUM FIRST DAY' and' 2000'. The image of the Earth in the gold centerpiece is divided into two areas separated by the international dateline. The area to the west is experiencing the first day of the millennium and is pad printed with the date' 01/01/2000'. The area to the east, which is still in the last day of the 20th century is pad printed in the deep blue ocean, with the date' 31/12/1999'.

Also highlighted is the city of Gisborne, in New Zealand, the first city to see the first light of the new millennium. The coin's obverse features an Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II set in a golden centrepiece. Surrounding is a mirror-finish border with a 20 DOLLARS denomination. The coin is housed in presentation packaging comprising a elegant black display case and a themed box-shipper accompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
