Rare 1858 Sydney Mint Type II Australia Gold Sovereign Coin - Key Date. NGC Certified and Graded as Almost Uncirculated (AU 50). This coin at AU50 is somewhere in between. Composition 91.67% Gold, 8.33% Silver.

Type II obverse: Queen Victoria's portrait wears a wreath made from banksia leaves, and her is in a knotted braid. The legend reads VICTORIA D: G: BRITANNIAR REGINA F:D. The reverse, designed by Leonard Charles Wyon, bears the Sydney Mint banksia wreath design surrounding AUSTRALIA , and positioned below a crown with the legend SYDNEY MINT ONE SOVEREIGN encircling the design. This 1858 issue is no doubt the biggest challenge for Australian Sovereign Type II set collectors with higher grades being very scarce.
