1894 Gold Full Sovereign - Queen Victoria Veiled Head Very Fine Condition 22ct Gold Coin in good condition please see photos The old head portrait is the last of the portraits of Queen Victoria. Sovereigns were produced featuring this effigy from 1893 to 1901. Obverse The obverse of this coin features the Old Head portrait, which is also known as the widow or veiled head.

It was designed by renowned artist Thomas Brock. Brock also designed the Victoria Memorial which can be seen outside Buckingham Palace.

The inscription reads VICTORIADEIGRABRITTREGINAFIDDEFINDIMP Reverse The reverse of the coin shows the classic St George Dragon engraving by Benedetto Pistrucci. The date and the initials BP are in exergue. The M mint mark in the ground beneath the dragon shows that the sovereign was stuck in Melbourne.
