Excellent BU condition in capsule (capsule has scratches and a crack). 2000 Australia Year of the Dragon ¼ oz. This coin is an addition to the original series 1 of Chinese Zodiac coins produced by the Perth Mint in Australia.

Compared to the 2nd Lunar series that is in production now, this series had lower mintages. Since this coin is from the 1st Australian Lunar series, it can be difficult to find. Like other gold coins struck by the Perth Mint, the 2000 issue of the Lunar Dragon coin is made of. This coin contains ¼ Troy oz.

The design of the Series 1 2000 Lunar Dragon coins is similar to the design of the series 2 Lunar Dragon coins. Queen Elizabeth II is depicted on the obverse. While this coin is a bit smaller than others due to its ¼ oz. Weight, the fine details of Queen Elizabeth IIs portrait are still clearly visible. The finish of this coin is excellent, especially for being a regular strike. This side of the coin reads ELIZABETH II, AUSTRALIA, and 25 DOLLARS. The reverse of the coin is where the dragon design is located.

The dragon was designed the way Chinese dragons are depicted, long and winding with 4 short limbs. The dragon is shown with a Pearl of Wisdom just in front of it. Below the dragon is the weight and purity of the coin, 1/4 oz.

This side is also inscribed with the year 2000 and the Chinese symbol for dragon. This is a great opportunity to add some low mintage collectible gold to your collection.
