It continues the second Lunar Series from the Perth Mint, which is an annual favorite among collectors. It bears that Mint's "P" Mint mark on the left side of the reverse.

9999 fine gold, this coin is part of a very low mintage of just 30,000 pieces, so it is unlikely to be available for long. Stunning Year of the Dog design by Ing Ing Jong. The obverse bears Queen Elizabeth II's portrait by Ian Rank-Broadley that has long appeared on issues of the Perth Mint. Rank-Broadley shows the long-serving monarch with a tiara atop her head. The monarch's name and other information about the coin are inscribed along the rim.

On the reverse is as stunning dog design by Ing Ing Jong. Jong's design features a Labrador Retriever, one of the most popular breeds of dog.

The playful character is shown from the left with its right front paw lifted and its head turned such that it looks at the holder from its right eye. A stylized pine tree is on the left.
