The Australian Wedge Tailed Eagle series was issued by the Perth Mint since 2014, with obverse designed exclusively by John M. Mercanti (who also designed the famous reverse of American Silver Eagle). The Wedge-Tailed eagle is the largest bird of prey in Australia with a wingspan of over nine feet! The 2014 and 2015 (this coin) features the same obverse design, and Perth Mint changed the obverse design in 2016, followed by a reverse proof design in 2017.

In my honest opinion the 2014 and 2015 design are much more powerful as they showcase the wedge-tailed eagle in flight. With a low mintage and actual Mercanti signatur e yes he signed each single label by hand! This is a true collector's item.
